4 ways spiritual people struggle in business
An elemental quiz to find your genius zone & blind spot!
Okay, so you’ve found a calling — an amorphous entity that chose you to be it’s vessel; a gift, natural aptitude, or soul-led urge that you can no longer ignore. You’ve cultivated it with courses, books, podcasts, and endless hours of resourcing and researching. You feel called to show up in the hour of need for others. Perhaps you already have a platform or booking page. You see accounts of practitioners, coaches, and writers who have taken the leap and made a career out of it.
You ask, how hard can it be? Turns out, really f’ing hard.
When I launched my business in 2020, I had a website I built on my phone, a booking link connected to my google calendar, and 78 followers. It’s vulnerable to admit how long that was my entire infrastructure (at least a year of bootstrapping). I see a lot of sponsored posts from business coaches who say, “you have to invest in yourself if you want to scale” and then pitch you a $10,000 package; good for them, but that’s just not realistic for the majority.

Flash forward a few years, I was making it work — booking clients, popping off on socials, creating a real website. But the more I grew, the more blind spots I noticed. (My chart also confirmed where I was thriving and struggling… continue reading for an astrological quiz to find out, too.)
I met my friend Krista through a tangle of quantum threads that were conspiring to make sure we crossed paths, one way or another. We finally came face to face when she asked me to teach astrology for entrepreneurs at her retreat in Baja, Mexico. It was a soul yes. She embodied authentic marketing in a way that made me feel like maybe I could level up without investing a mortgage downpayment to do it.

Then she taught this wicked sharp course on building an email list with funnels and welcome sequences and other big girl words. She also had a 90-day launch guide that I started recommending to clients who wanted help getting a product out there, without the cost of a thoroughbred horse or new car.
Sure, she had all these big clients in her marketing agency, but she always had resources for the women just getting started. That always stuck with me.
At a certain point, it made sense for her to centralize all of her templates, courses, and guides into what is now the Authentic Business Club — a growth-focused community for female entrepreneurs that provides a bottomless wealth of marketing resources for businesses at every stage; an idea taking root or scaling 6-7 figures.
Why am I telling you all of this? I’m a woman who spent years figuring it out on the fly and I’m tired of watching the baddest women I know get burnt out by wearing hats outside their genius zone.
Elemental quiz to find your genius zone and blind spots ↓
On a scale from 1-10 (1 being groan, 10 being that’s me!), rate how connected you feel to each element in business. Working with the elements is a simple yet powerful way to address what comes easily and what requires more conscious effort. When I started seeking out resources for earth, bookings became more frequent because I had systems in place. When I was feeling low in air, I made this Substack. Identify which come easily and which require practice! Your biz and brain will thank you.
Fun fact: how you resonate with these descriptions won’t necessarily mirror the elemental split in your own chart. It can also fluctuate over time. Sometimes a chart has five planets in water because their soul came here to learn how to soften, not because it’s already instinctive. Maybe you’re missing fire completely, and yet you heavily identify with it! That could be thanks to past life mastery rolling over into this one, and it fluctuates between extremes without a planet to keep it constant. TLDR; there’s nuance we can explore together in the comments.
Fire | Energy, confidence, ego, motivation, star power, initiator
You are the brand, baby! You’re a walking motivational poster and light up every room you’re in. You love a new project because it allows you to go 0 to 60 and see the instant gratification of turning an idea into reality. You've got a natural confidence that magnifies your aura and translates well to social media. Your energy keeps it real, albeit a bit blunt sometimes. But that’s exactly what your target demographic needs from you; the spice that adds the flavor and motivation! Since you’re busy under the spotlight, little daily tasks escape your notice. You would benefit from automations like an email sequence that nurtures new arrivals automatically, in your sleep. For you, I’d recommend diving into List Build Academy, a self-paced course that leverages your existing content and energy to reach every new subscriber. Become a member and level up your email game overnight (literally).
If this is your lowest element, your homework is exposure therapy. Start showing up more in little ways, like revealing your face on Instagram stories, or writing a personal newsletter. Get your heart rate up every morning to activate fire physically, too!
Earth | Systems, money management, curation, organization, reliability
You hold the fort down! You set up the LLC, spreadsheets, and business bank account without breaking a sweat. You’re the queen of the follow-up, and nothing is gonna sneak by you. Your computer is always open, your friends think you’re a workaholic, but you don’t see the problem with that. You’re just mission-driven, and the more you accomplish in a day the more satisfied you feel. Logistics are your bread and butter. As a perfectionist, you might overcomplicate the process or create reasons to stall (“It’s not ready yet! Maybe in Q4!”). You love the act of building; for you, what might feel more tedious is the creative element of designing, writing evocative copy for socials, or being a spokesperson for your business. I’d recommend coming to class on June 10, where I’ll be teaching “Cosmic Practices for Being Seen” to come out of your shell in a way that feels natural to you. Become a member to RSVP, and I’ll see you there live!
If this is your lowest element, your homework is to simplify and systematize. Boil 10 ideas into 3. Be more precious with your time. Practice working in short bursts (set a timer for 25 minutes and see how much you can get done). Remember discipline is the highest form of self-love, and your business needs you to be consistent.
Air | Community builder, writer, standout voice, gift of the gab
Hello, visionary! The genius, thought leader, public speaker. You are a community builder and writer. Your gift is the ability to articulate exactly what it is that your clients need. You make people feel heard and understood through the act of telling your own story. You’ve got the social bandwidth to be online and connect with others, but this free flow of mental energy means you also have more ideas than hours in the day, and it’s easy to feel scattered. You might lose track of the money that comes and goes, but you’re generally optimistic that you’ll figure it out. For you, I’d recommend the Marketing Fundamentals course, a foolproof ‘rinse and repeat’ process that you can crank out for each new idea you get. Become a member to start filling in the gaps of your outreach tools!
If this is your lowest element, your homework is to activate your voice, third house, and throat chakra. Start a daily journaling practice if speaking up feels hard. Your voice plays an essential role in what you’re building!
Water | Poet, mystic, artist, designer, creative, intuitive, big heart
The artists and mystics who begrudgingly build a business to support their gifts! Hello, kindred spirits. You are a walking channel, guide, space holder. You make an emotional impact on others thanks to your increased sensitivity of the world around you. You move through the world in a way that is inspiring and heartfelt. You very likely stumbled into having a business as a result of being extremely talented at a specific gift. (Which is not to say that you don’t enjoy entrepreneurship, but that the more robust side of the work like SEOs and S Corps is not necessarily your jam). That’s fine! It actually drains you. Due to your fluid nature, deadlines can feel unnatural. But we still need structure to get an idea out in the world. That’s why I recommend the 90-Day Launch Guide to give you a container to play with and make your own. Become a member to get started planning your launch!
If this is your lowest element, your homework is to reconnect with the emotional body, incorporate intuition into your work (stop ignoring your gut!), find low-pressure creative outlets, make time for true stillness; no phone, no podcast, just a 5-minute meditation to quiet the internal chatter and see what wants to come through.
Comment your highest and lowest element, I’m so curious!
It’s such a great feeling to get to recommend a space where women can get tangible value and also exhale — to not be the only one holding your business anymore. (Business tools are very much seasonal, and that’s why it’s month-to-month. What I need help with in June isn’t necessarily what I need in Q4.)
Doors close June 1 for the summer. Where could you be in three months time?
I’ll be kicking off the summer series with two live classes in the club: June 3 and June 10!
Learn how to cultivate optimal habits for success, and sacred practices for being seen… both based on the essence of your own birth chart.
To the women who do it all, wear every hat, see every email.
To the woman whose computer is always open.
To the solo-preneurs, side hustlers, the ones making time to grow the idea after their day job.
If you have a full-body knowing that you’ve come as far as you can with the tools you have, come see if it’s for you!
Doors close June 1. Check out the summer agenda, try it for a month, catch a vibe. Rooting for your wildest success, always.
To the moon and back,
Ocean
While I was reading, I resonated deeply with fire and also air even though air is my lowest element in my birth chart. However, my MC is in Air so it makes sense from a business standpoint. Also, I have mercury and Venus in Aries, so I am pretty comfortable with fire energy. Thank you for this post, I really enjoyed it ❤️
When I look at the elements box at astro.com, air is my highest and water my lowest. But my sun and moon is water and that's where I feel most at "home".
