Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse in Virgo Horoscopes
"Inspiration must find you working." What does your dream need from you now?
Have you ever woken up in a new place and stubbed your toe trying to find bathroom at two in the morning? That’s what a lunar eclipse feels like; waving your hands out in front of you to avoid walking into a wall. Here’s the thing — we’ve got to stub a few toes to get where we’re going. Consider the high voltage of a Full Moon, shrouded and illuminated only by inner knowing.
The outline of the emotional body is silhouetted against the backdrop of retrograde season, nodal karma, and our willingness to face what’s lurking in the shadows… or not. Give yourself the grace of allowing your eyes to adjust. Take in the outline of your surroundings, the truths you’ve been avoiding, the feelings you’ve been suppressing, the urges and knowings that have been tickling your peripheral consciousness, not yet in full view.
The essence of what’s being revealed is reflected in the karmic mirror of the lunar nodes, now in Virgo and Pisces. “Inspiration must find you working.” (An abridged Picasso quote that I find deeply relatable to this opposition.) Every dream needs a plan, and even the best laid plans require trust in the process. There is no greater drug to Pisces than being told they have a natural ability. Likewise, no better high for Virgo than being told ‘job well done, no notes!’
I’ve walked the tight rope between these two signs my entire life. Have you carried any of these stories within you? The gifted child who cruised on natural aptitude or was busy doodling in the margins, buffering within her own potential. The overcompensating, overachieving young adult trying to make up for the Neptunian void free fall. Carefree early 20s, divorced from corporate expectation, followed in turn by a screeching oscillation to hyper-vigilance, existentialism, not-enough-isms. With my Sun, Mercury, Venus, and South Node in Pisces in the 12th house, opposite Mars and North Node, exact degree, in Virgo in the 6th, my personal planets and large sum of who I am swing between these two, day and night. I’ve sung the melodies of the high road and surfed the waves of the low road of both signs more times than I can count, which is how I know we should all be prepared to reconcile our dreams with our actions.
Where can you shift your focus on the axis of surrender and due diligence? We expect a roller coaster to be mechanically safe, yet we still wear a seatbelt. You can trust the process as much as you want, but it is still your job to buckle the clasp so you don’t fall out of your damn seat. I’m learning less free fall between the razor edge of Virgo and weightlessness of Pisces in favor of a soft landing, clean room, solid morning routine. A partner dance instead of elbowing for a solo. Lockstep, not lockjaw. The art of inner cooperation, hushing the critic, picking up the pen, plucking the chords, swallowing my supplements, showing up in service. Whatever your relationship is with the doer and the dreamer of the zodiac, this new eclipse season will spotlight the application and integration of both in your life.
There’s a popular phrase, “what’s for me won’t pass me.“ This mentality is missing the crucial context that what’s for you, will also require effort.
The shadow of opposites are often quite similar, and that’s part of what’s triggering; it’s usually our own shit that frustrates us in our mirrors of other people or opposite signs. Pisces and Virgo are both guilty of procrastination and escapism, in different ways and for different reasons. Pisces may romanticize the end goal, and spend more time dreaming about it than working towards it. When the Pisces finally wakes up to this realization that nothing has changed, there’s a depressive devastation and increased likelihood of turning to escapism.
Virgo romanticizes the outcome just as much, but their drug of choice is procrastination. The crushing fear of not getting it “right” can suspend a Virgo in endless adjustments. Obsessing quite literally over the schematics of the dream, but never truly building it. Months, even years can go by where a Virgo seems qualified and prepared to make it happen, but is deeply stuck in their own way.
The highroad of Pisces is the medicine to the low road of Virgo. The highroad of Virgo is the medicine to the low road of Pisces. Can Virgo borrow the bottomless faith of Pisces that is required to put one foot in front of the other, and trust that the dream would not exist if they were not qualified? Can Pisces borrow the mindful precision of Virgo to turn a feeling into a plan? To sharpen and refine the tools required to make good on their natural ability and have a tangible outcome that marries gift and gumption?
Let’s recall the Virgo New Moon six months ago that has been building up to now. Here are those horoscopes, where I wrote about making 1% progress everyday. Do you remember what you journaled about back then? What the goal was? Where do you stand with it now?
The house of 23° Virgo is where I invite you to examine which habits have been working in your highest favor, and which patterns are holding you back.
1st house: How well have you been tending to the garden of your own potential? The iteration you aspire to be? With sacred routines or constant criticism? Consider what acts of devotion you can be investing in your highest self and path right now. Pay close attention to what your body is asking for as well.
2nd house: If you build it, they will come! That’s what it means to have earth signs within earth houses. The question is, are you still in love with what you’ve been building? Are you still chipping away at the dream, day by day? Or are you letting fear and scarcity get in the way?
3rd house: I need you to be honest about the stories you’ve been telling yourself… the outside opinions you are allowing into your inner circle… the role of your voice in this lifetime, and the role it plays in your chosen field of service. How would you like to be using your voice? Progress, not perfection! (If you overthink the podcast idea, you’re never going to launch it.)
4th house: What’s been different about how you tend to home & family over the past six months? Are you more sensitive to your own needs? Have boundaries felt easier? Or have you been trying to be everything for everyone? This is a good time to patch any holes in the roof or celebrate getting your own needs met.
5th house: Can you free up your creativity from the expectation of perfection? What if you gifted the world with your projects at the 70% finished mark? Are you holding your creations to an unrealistic standard that prevents you from having to actually be seen?
6th house: Pause what you’re doing and assess your mental and physical health. Are there any symptoms you’ve been ignoring? A doctor‘s appointment you’ve been putting off? A feeling you’ve been suppressing? Whatever you do not face will show up in the body. Face it before it forces you to.
7th house: are your relationships on a mutual growth trajectory, or are you wasting time putting lipstick on a pig? Which is to say, you can grow together, but you cannot be the facilitator of their growth. You need equal buy-in. If you’ve been feeling hypocritical in your relationships lately, this is your reminder to come back to your heart center and remember hard decisions can still be made with a loving heart.
8th house: how has your mental health been lately? The urge right now might be to bury your head in the sand or create distance, but I implore you to call on the tools you’ve already cultivated, that are already within arms reach, to stay present and curious about getting your own needs met right now.
9th house: “If you cannot run, walk. If you cannot walk, crawl.“ I think about that MLK Jr. quote often. Forward, always forward. Don’t let pragmatism kill your dreams, but consider the details and steps to the larger outcome as a sacred ritual. Discipline is one of the highest forms of love for ourselves and our dreams.
10th house: do you still love the work, or are you committed to this path purely out of obligation and sunk cost? Take inventory of your ambitions at this time. Any change in desire, goals, or aspirations will make themselves known at this time. Watch for the signs!
11th house: is the veil getting pulled back on your friendships right now? Who is truly bought in on their relationship with you, and who is not meeting your effort? For the collective, consider the tools available to you, and whether or not you’ve been as consistent as you could be in reaching your audience.
12th house: the implicit opposition here is an evergreen reminder that creativity requires consistency, spirituality needs structure, and channeling requires a container. How well are you tending to the necessary frameworks of your spiritual, intuitive, and creative outlets?
The nodes will stay along this axis for roughly 18 months, and subsequent eclipses will charter the karma and lessons we’re meant to navigate. Be gentle with yourself, trust the process, and remember we’ve come out on the other side of plenty eclipses even better for it. More will be revealed in time.
To the moon and back (pun intended),
Ocean Pleasant
Thank you, appreciate hearing your experience with North Node Virgo / South Node Pisces. I have N. Node at 19 degrees Virgo, 10th house. Using a lot of grounding practices in these interesting times.
Thank you! This is super insightful and it’s great to see that my horoscope from six month ago (12th house) actually transformed into action.
Having my natal moon at 25 degrees Virgo might have also explain why I feel this moon so strong. ^^
